Renee Rubin

Dr. Renee Rubin Ross is a recognized leader in board development, organizational strategy, and inclusive governance. As the founder of The Ross Collective, she designs and facilitates participatory strategic planning processes that engage nonprofit boards, staff, funders, and government entities in meaningful, equity-centered decision-making. Committed to advancing racial justice in the social sector, Dr. Ross guides organizations through strategic plans and governance practices that deepen alignment, strengthen community engagement, and expand collective impact. In addition to her consulting work, Dr. Ross serves as Director of the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program at California State University, East Bay, where she teaches Strategic Planning and Board Development. A past board member of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management and a member of the Technology of Participation facilitators’ network, she brings decades of expertise in participatory leadership and systems change. Her Doctorate in Education and Jewish Studies from New York University focused on parent participation in schools, reflecting her long-standing commitment to voice, engagement, and inclusive leadership.
